Are you experiencing pain such as TMJ and/or facial pain, low back pain, plantar fasciitis, neck pain, headaches or migraines?
Integrative Manual Therapy is a huge body of work (which includes its own form of Craniosacral Therapy) with vast applications for pain management and alleviation. There are times when Sole Support orthotics are pivotal for recovery. The Functional Indirect Technique offers simple diagnostic and treatment methods that are wonderful for the spine and joints. And deep tissue massage can be an excellent supplement to treatment. I also use the “Rapid Release” tool which saves my hands and is incredibly effective in melting fascia.
Are you dealing with neurological, digestive or vascular issues?
Integrative Manual Therapy utilizes incredibly effective methods of working with nerves, blood vessels and organs.
Are you going through a life transition about which you feel stressed or confused?
Hakomi Body Centered Therapy is a gentle method which accesses trance states through mindfulness allowing unconscious material to come to the surface while the conscious mind is present. In this way, one can work with core material and update previous early perceptions and decisions in a deep, gentle and nonintrusive manner. Hakomi is a natural and organic method of self healing and discovery.
Are you in a process of spiritual awakening looking to ground yourself or to discern the path ahead of you?
Again, Hakomi is a powerful method of self discovery. Using the healing crystal lights from the Casa de Dom Ignacio is a powerful tool of healing as well. My experience with my own spiritual journey is a resource from which I draw.
Are you simply seeking relaxation and rejuvenation?
Chelation (MariEl Energy Healing,) Reiki, Massage therapy, Bach flowers and California essences and Young Living essential oils all are beneficial approaches to relaxation and wellness.
What my clients seem to have in common is a commitment to their health, personal growth and well being; it depends on the individual and their needs in the moment as to whether we pursue that through energy work, Integrative Manual Therapy, Craniosacral manipulation, massage, somatic therapy or spiritual process work. Variety is a lovely spice for life, you know? I find it hard to say “I work with this specific population” because I love diversity in my client load. I love to “right” a sprained ankle &/or descended sacrum in one session and do emotional release work or spiritual direction in the next.
I began my career in Massage Therapy doing very deep manipulation, often in the 10 session format of Structural Integration. Forty years ago I was teaching tools and techniques that I had gathered and developed to take away the pain before doing the tissue work; at this point I believe that “deep tissue” generally isn’t what will most effectively treat most issues. I will often use other methods first to take away the pain or symptoms before working more deeply so that the treatment can be the most pleasurable. Of course, it has its place, and if tissue work is what has been requested I am happy to do just that.
